m00n
I curretly have a RSW-12, I am considering getting another sub. I am torn between a RSW-15 and a SVS Ultra. I think I have a good indication of how the RSW-15 would sound, but not having any knowledge of the SVS Ultra, I have no idea what to expect from those. Can someone try to discribe what the differences between the two are? What kind of sound quality I would get from each? Thanks.... ------------------ m00nsCinema to be the m00n system FRONTS: RF-7 CENTER: RC-7 SURROUNDS: RS-7 SUB: RSW-12 RECEIVER: Harman Kardon AVR 520 DVD: Harman Kardon DVD-50(DD, DTS) VIDEO: InFocus ScreenPlay DLP Projector COMPUTER: ProMedia 4.1 c>Microsoft XBOXc> f>
jonesey
I think that the RSW15 and Ultra will sound different The RSW15 has a clean sound and slick looks! The RSW15 will also probably match better with the RSW12 than any SVS. Put the RSW12 on top of the RSW15, then try an RSW15 alone, and see how that works. Johnboy
My understanding is that the RSW-15 does a damn good job to about 30HZ. Below that the SVS Ultra will be capable of more (especially duals). I run a Paradigm PW-2200 that is being replaced by dual SVS 25-31 CS+'s today. After listening to some of these subs they blew my 2200 away. In shopping I comapred the RSW-12 to the 2200 and the 2200 won everyones ear in the room. Both the Klipsch and the SVS will be musical, but the SVS will really take over on movies with lots of LFE. The SVS gives POWERFUL & CLEAN bass. Go to SVsubwoofers.com and look around. Send them an E-mail and let them answer your questions about their subs. These guys are very responsive. ------------------ Klipsch RF-3II Klipsch RC-3II Jamo in wall surrounds Paradigm PW-2200 sub Sony Playstation II Yamaha RX-V630 Rotel RMB-1066 Yamaha DVD carosel RCA Hi-Fi VCR (hardly used anymore) Sony Trinitron 36"
prodj101
Hey, I own a Klipsch RSW-15, and absolutly love it. It has more output than I would ever need (I use it on about 3/8ths volume), it looks way better than the SVS, plus I think they are some of the best sounding subs around. I agree with the ear that the term musical is over used, but the RSW-15 has a sound to it, that only high end subs have. Sort of like how you can hear definition in the bass rather than just long tones. ------------------ Tha System Front- SF-2 Rear- SF-1 Center- SC-1 RSW-15 for the sub Receiver- Cheap Pioneer Amp for stereo Listening- Home-made tube amp 100 watt monoblocks second to top of the line sony SACD- Technics Turntable, Pioneer Turntable, Gemini Turntable. m00n
Well, NOZ, unless I can sell my RSW-12 for a good price, I am going to stick with Klipsch and get a RSW-15. Then I will run the two together. I can only image that a 12 and a 15 together would sound impressive. Plus, I know what they sound like, I don't know what the SVS sounds like. Nor have I ever seen them in any stores. ------------------ m00nsCinema to be the m00n system FRONTS: RF-7 CENTER: RC-7 SURROUNDS: RS-7 SUB: RSW-12 RECEIVER: Harman Kardon AVR 520 DVD: Harman Kardon DVD-50(DD, DTS) VIDEO: InFocus ScreenPlay DLP Projector COMPUTER: ProMedia 4.1 c>Microsoft XBOXc> f>

peterm
I own both of them. The 15 has a lot of punch (a lot more than the 12), you'll like it very much on music. My neighbor has a VTF-3. He brought it at home and we made some comparison with the RSW-15. He said he loved the 'punch' of my RSW- 15 better than his VTF-3. Good Luck. jonesey
I agree. The RSW-15 does have a bit more punch than the VTF-3, while the VTF-3 plays a bit lower (however, I did not hear the VTF-3 in maximum output mode which may give punchier sound than it's normal mode). moon, please tell us how the RSW-15 sounds with the RSW-12. This combo should be sweet

Yep, I realize that. Which is why I figure that if I can't sell it, I will just get another klipsch sub. The RSW-15. But at least $1000.00 is what it is worth to me. However, at that price, I would be willing to pick up the shipping costs. ------------------ m00nsCinema to be the m00n system FRONTS: RF-7 CENTER: RC-7 SURROUNDS: RS-7 SUB: RSW-12 RECEIVER: Harman Kardon AVR 520 DVD: Harman Kardon DVD-50(DD, DTS) VIDEO: InFocus ScreenPlay DLP Projector COMPUTER: ProMedia 4.1 c>Microsoft XBOXc> f>
Vladi
Moon, Thanks for the offer! I own the RSW-10 currently and it is still in the 30 days return policy -- originally I wanted the RSW-12, but it was more expensive and I got the 10". However, I have discovered that the RSW-10 gives me more bass than I even need/want, I am very satisfied with how well it blends with my RF-3s. So apologies, I am not going to buy it, I was too fast to ask you how much ... I don't suspect I will sell it for that price, however, I won't let it go for anything less. I don't see any SVS in my futhure because of this.
