Witchman
Newbie here to the forum. I've have a set of KLF30's for about 20 years. Recently the right side upper woofer starting making a rumbling noise as if it was blown. The left side sounds fine. So I removed it to inspect and appears to be fine. Therefore I swapped out the left upper woofer over to the right but still same rumbling blown noise persists ! Both speakers physically look good, no cracks, no broken circuits. Could the internal circuitry be bad ? Perhaps a defective speaker wire ? Any suggestions / help would be appreciated. I don't want to start replacing components without diagnosing the problem correctly.
moray james
this would be a good time to physically rotate your woofers 180 degrees you may be suffering from cone sag on the suspensions. You should mark your woofers so you know which way they were installed (a small identifiable marking on the frame) and rotate them as a habit every five years and you can take the opportunity to inspect your leads and networks snug up your drivers and such. They get loose over time because they vibrate a lot, you would think that people would catch on to that. mustang guy
Welcome to the forum! While you have them out to rotate, make sure the spider hasn't come loose from the basket. As Moray says, the likely problem is the voicecoil rubbing. This can be sag or a loose spider. If it's come loose, super glue gel can be used to fasten the spider back to the basket. mikebse2a3
From your description I suggest you check for any loose panels as a possible cause. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/149051-klipsch-klf-30/ miketn
megarock
it could be a loose front panel, common problem in the legend series, if you take out the woofer and pull on the front panel and it moves, then it needs reglued!
