JAMINGRIZZ
Has anyone here tried to steam out a dent on an oil finished speaker? I have done it on furniture and gun stocks, with good results.
moray james
I have never done this on a piece of veneered mdf. why don't you do an experiment on the bottom of one of your speakers first. I used to use a wet cloth a bottle cap and an electric iron.
muel
Yes I did this but with veneer on plywood. You might release the veneer glue though. I'd use a hard roller to apply pressure to the veneer while it cools. If you get a bit of veneer pop up I use a syringe and inject glue directly into the bubble and roll out. My dent was slight and most likely only affected the veneer itself... I'm thinking this might not work as well if the dent is much deeper. The steam might not make it very far past the veneer. I did this a TON on staple indentations that were left on a cedar strip canoe. Works really well in that situation. Testing on the bottom is a good idea but you don't really know how the veneer dent will react until you try.
