NOZ
I guess no-ones heard of it before, oh well.... Looks pretty cool. It's on e-bay, don't know the item # right now. If anyone knows what this creation is all about, pleeeease let us know. Thanks Sean
lynnm
Is this the one you are asking about Item # 1385620550 ? It looks pretty good to me and if you can get it cheap - might be a worthwhile toy! I am a little concerned about the O/P tubes as it seems to me that I read somewhere that the 7355 Tube is hard to come by but that is off the top of my head and may be inaccurate. Good Luck! lynnm
It appears that the O/P tubes while not especially common are sporadically available Found a little more info for you: http://rummageads.com/tstereo/ak500/
NOSValves
That Amp may be the Cats *** for sound but I wouldn't touch it with a Ten foot Pole !! It uses 7355 Tubes that are impossible to find and very expensive if you do happen to find them. Buyer beware !!
Big Bean
I use an A-500 every day with my Cornwalls. It's wonderful. The tubes are original H/K 7355s and are still going strong at about 40 yrs. I had no problem getting some nos back ups at twenty bucks per tube.
mobile homeless
Of all the Harmon Kardan integrateds from the Award series, this one seems to be favored except for the fact that it does rely on obsolete tubes like the 7355 which is sort of like a 7591. Although this tube is available, it is not a very common tube and is not made anymore. Still, there are used 7355 around and the 7591 is close, but I believe less voltage. Many compared this tube to the 6L6 loosely. I think there are better transformers out there but many like this amp. And it does run the tubes VERY conservatively leading to long life as evidenced by the post above. While these tubes are not made anymore, they are around and a search at the usual tube spots will net you a few. It boils down to your wants. There are better integrateds and worse, with easier tube selection options. I prefer the EL-84 integrateds but if a good deal comes along, go for it.
