Orange Peel Posted October 7, 2002 Share Posted October 7, 2002 If the room isn't very large the 16-46 will work well. It tends to lag on the larger rooms with more openings as far as loudness goes. I talked with Eric at SVS about this when I was buying mine. I wanted the 16-46 because of the 16hz low end, but he said it doesn't have much loudness overall in a larger room like mine. I would HIGHLY recommend the 20-39 PCi or PC+ depending on your $$$. You can tune the PC+ down to 12 hz if you want with the port plugs, so no need to worry about the low end But even at the 20 hz setting, it DIGS DEEP and LOUD! I think, wait, I KNOW you will be TOTALLY satisfied with the 20-39 PCi sub, and the PC+ will be even better. I heard Doug's 20-39 PCi and man, it ROCKS! I couldn't believe my ears when I heard it. And my PC+ is even better, but both are INSANE! Don't get the 16-46, just get the 20-39 and save the $50 for some nice cables. It seems a receiver and speakers would be better? Go for the gold and get Genelec actice monitors. Or, if you have about $30,000 to spend, get the BEST (better than ANYTHING!!!) active monitors in the world: http://www.meyersound.com/products/studioseries/x-10/index.htm Aren't you worried about theft if you are leaving $$$ stuff at the cabin? Ken, Best in the world...blah sure.Genelec has some huge ubber minitors as well,PMC in my book would rank as the very best in large monitoring speakers.Dynaudio also makes some very large active wonders,JBL and TAD would also be contenders.Zingali from Italy also ranks way up there You have about six to ten brands that could claim this and do damn well,as for the best who knows.
