signal2noise
I purchased a pair of '86 heresy's that have a signature edition tag with Paul's signature... was this for the 30th anniversary? They are walnut, with tan basketweave grill cloths ... just curious....
JohnA
That would have been about the company's 40th aniversary.
Dale A B
From a previous forum post: SIGNIFICANT EVENTS 1957: A new Klipsch speaker, the KLIPSCH HERESY, is developed. For this speaker, corner placement is not mandatory. 1986 Heresy's would be darn close to the 30 year anniversary. I've got a pair of the same - I think Walnut was the only option. Anywho, back to some vinyl tuneage! NP - Big Country - Why The Long Face?
HDBRbuilder
The signature series was in fact a series of speakers from around 1986 that were badged as 1987 models, even though they were produced in 1986...and the series(including the k-horns) were for the 40th anniversary of Klipsch speakers...meaning the k-horn's introduction to the world as a production model...and had nothing to do with the year of the Heresy's introduction. Black walnut was the favorite of PWK. He appreciated its value as a fine wood, and, for the time, anyway, it was also getting pretty rare due to so much of it being used during World War II to supply gunstocks to us and our allies. As a matter of fact, you will find few true riflemen(and PWK was definitely a true rifleman at heart!!)who do not appreciate native American Black Walnut!! Hell, even on the density scale of woods, Black Walnut is the standard(1.0), all other woods being either higher or lower on the scale, since this scale was originally developed to find viable woods to use for military gunstock material as an alternative to Black Walnut!
