Diggs
My parents are having problems with their reciever for some reason. I tried hooking up my VCR's audio out RCA cables into any one of the 3 video in inputs and receiving no sound, yet if I hook it into the CD jacks I get sound. Did I not enable something? I tried switching the input mode, which went optical1, optical2, coax, nothing and then cycled through again. If I'm not mistaken it should be on Coax. Ok, that was probably confusing, and I'm confusing myself here too, so I'll just ask if anyone knows how to hook up a VCR's audio section to the Outlaw, what settings it needs to be on and which buttons to press. I feel like such an idiot and have no problems running my Denon, but this simple task has me stumped. Thanks in advance.
zoocow
Diggs, If you are using RCA jacks, I don't think you should be using the digital inputs (i.e. opt1, opt2, coax). I think you need to remove the digital input mode from the VCR inputs. Hope this helps
Audio Flynn
VCR is analog Only DVD and if you have it Satelite or Cable are digital. HT can be a pain in the rump!
synthfreek
I have the 1050 and I'll try to give you a hand. First off there are 2 different sets of "Video In". In the middle of the back of the receiver...those are inputs for the video outs of your vcr. Towards the bottom left hand corner are the inputs for the audio outs on the vcr. Obviously they are to be plugged into the "play/in" jacks. I use Video 1 to make life easier. Now scroll through the "input source" buttons until "VIDEO 1" appears. At this point you should have sound. If not, you'll need to scroll through the "digital select" button to make sure that none of the digital inputs are being used. I usually use the "Surround" mode when watching TV/VCR. Push "Surr mode" 'til you see that. Still no sound? Then you'll have to start looking at the speaker settings since the 1050 remembers different settings for different inputs. Press "speaker config" and make sure everything is set right. Scroll through the speakers by pressing the "< & >" buttons. You might wanna adjust the center, rear & sub levels by pressing the corresponding buttons and setting the levels with the "< & >" buttons. One note: The sub will not work if the main speakers are set to "large" even when the LFE light is lit on the front panel. I usually set the sub crossover 10hz higher than whatever the "X-OVER" on the 1050 is set to. My speakers easily go below 60hz so I set the "X-OVER" to the lowest setting of 60 and my sub to 70. Was this too much info?
Diggs
Thanks guys, but I seem to have figured it out. I just changed the digital select to none and it worked fine. I don't know why it wouldn't work last night, because I'm pretty sure I tried it. I knew I wasn't that technologically challenged. Thanks for your help.
