audiowarrior
Currently, I have a Denon 3500h and it's been good to me all these years. My room has terrible accoustic treatment, so I noticed my new RP klipsch home theater speakers have 'shrill' during the high frequency movie scenes. I'm looking to upgrade my receiver and I was wondering what you guys think. Is Denon still a go-to receiver for warmer sound to balance klipsch's 'shrill' highs? I've read NAD and HK are good as well. Or..... it doesn't matter which one I get, I just need to manually 'EQ' my speakers to get rid of the 'shrill'? I've never manually EQ'd before. I've only done automatic Audssey calibrations in the past. I've been reading a lot about 'manual EQ' and people seem to do that to make their klipsch sound 'warmer.' I'm just nervous I'll ruin the clarity and sound quality. (I primarily use speakers for HT)

Adjust EQ Adjust tonal balance for each frequency band. Select the speaker. Select the adjustment frequency band. 63 Hz / 125 Hz / 250 Hz / 500 Hz / 1 kHz / 2 kHz / 4 kHz / 8 kHz / 16 kHz

I think the center is the problematic one, is that possible to adjust? I don't see that as an exclusive setting. I guess I gotta get a newer receiver and download an app? Which one of these frequencies affects the "shrill" of a higher frequency? Is that 8k and 16k? should I turn those down into the negatives? Cheers

I would try lowering the 16k in sequences of say 10% until you reach the desired sound , then if that does not completely satisfy you , do the 8k as well
