Klipschorn wire connection

Recommended Posts

I just purchased a pair of used Klipschorns. I think I know how to make the speaker wire connections...but would like verification. I searched far and wide across the internet....couldn't find anything for my specific question. I'm assuming my incoming speaker wires attach to the two posts on the right. The top part of the speaker have a wire with two "banana" style connectors...assuming I can plug those into the two posts on the right. And the two wires on the left posts...assuming those would connect to the two posts on the right. Do I have this correct? Thanks, Dave

Your first post says Klipschorn, but you picture looks kind of like part of the Klipsch La Scala II.

If that is what you have, then the short jumper wires will connect the LF IN and the HF IN. From the amplifier to each speaker, a single wire pair (positive and negative) will connect to one pair of banana jacks in your picture. You can use banana plugs, a forked spade terminal or bare wire wrapped around the binding post.

  • 1 month later...

Ove just bought a used pair of Khorn 60th edition.

The cables running between the lower and upper units were disconnected.

Can anyone please help with the following:

1. To connect to the upper unit I am running the connectors from the HF posts of the lower unit.

2. When I unscrew the grille on the upper unit I see a crossover with no indication of which posts I'm supposed to attach the HF cables.

The two middle posts of the crossover unit are unused. Is that where the HF cables should be attached? Which is + and - ?

Any help is much appreciated.

Sorry for the piecemeal writing; just learning to use the forum.

So this is what my crossover connection looks like.

The right and left pairs were already connected as shown on both speakers (notice the inconsistent red-blue placings). I connected the jumpers from the lower unit to the middle pair as shown.

The mids and highs sound awful; muffled and dull. The bass is sweet. I assume something is wrong with the way the mid and tweeter crossovers are connected. I've switched positions a few times but got nowhere.

Oh and yes, there are jumpers between the HF and LF posts on the lower unit, same as in the original post here.
