And to think that I used to live within 20 miles of Punxytawny, PA. Never once did I bother to watch the goundhog, and in fact their HS football team was the chief rival of my school's football team (DuBois Beavers). The game played between these two teams was always a sell-out crowd (I know, real excitement for northwestern PA)!

Also have you ever noticed that when they say the groundhog sees his shadow, it'll be six more weeks of winter, but if he doesn't, it is some nebulous sounding "springtime will be just around the corner". Time to whip out the calander! Notice that it is just about 6 weeks until the first day of spring! So whether the groundhog saw his shadow or not, it is still 6 weeks until spring.

Nope, thankfully. I pretty much kept within the bounds of the ski area (Blackcomb/Whistler), in which the patrol there conducts avalanche controls. I could hear them blasting in the mornings. There was only one instance where I went out of bounds, to ski Blackcomb Glacier, but still pretty much within where avalanche control was conducted. Those fatal avalanches where pretty far away from where I was. Still sad to hear about people getting killed in avalanches, just like it is very sad to hear about what happened to the space shuttle.

There is one good thing about 6 more weeks of winter - 6 more weeks of SKIING!
