fan4fan1
Hi, just acquired a pair of home-made La Scala's! But the tweeters aren't working, anybody have a used but nice pair of K-77's (I believe) to sell? John in Orlando
NOZ
Welcome, First you need to see if they are round or square magnets. Make sure you get the same kind as they are matched to the crossover. Could you post a pic of them, I have never seen home made La Scalas.
Mike82
The tweeters may only need new diaphragms. Probably cheaper than buying the whole tweeter.
NOZ
True Mike, sorry it's too early in the AM. You can buy a replacement diaphram kit which is very easy to switch out.
JohnA
Regardless of the magnet type all that is likely required is a diaphragm replacement. It should cost about $25 plus about $25 labor, each.
dbflash
John, If they are K-77 try Simply Speakers. If they are K-77M Call Klipsch. fan4fan1
Hey, thanks for the advice! I receive the speakers tomorrow, here's the e-Bay auction I found them at. They are located only 20 miles away which is good (the seller made me a deal to avoud packing and shipping)- I wouldn't want to pay shipping for those beasts! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2511829244&category=23794 Any advice now that you have seen them? I got them for $550.00 including delivery, so if the tweeters can be fixed for about $100.00 I feel pretty good about the deal. Neat idea separating the cabs like that. They are supposed to sound REALLY good..... Thanks again, John
dbflash
John, I had both diaphrams replaced by simply speakers for $80 including shipping. Danny
