Cut-Throat
Erik Mandaville spent most of this weekend corresponding with me via e-mail and this forum to correct a hum problem that I had with my Moondogs. Erik correctly identified that I had a missing Recifier Circuit. This was applying AC to heaters of the 6SN7 tubes causing more hum than if it was DC. Erik also recommended a few other important mods such as re-routing the RCA input wires to a better ground (as well as scraping the enamel off of the chassis for a better connection) and the connection of the coax of these inputs directly to the tube pins. My Moondogs are now much quieter and singing beautifully. Thanks to Erik for all of his unselfish help.
Tom Mobley
As I see it, sort of quietly, with no fanfare or "look at me" stuff, Erik has become one of the most valuable members here. Tom
