andre-k
Is anyone familiar with the Athena floorspeakers? I was wondering how they rated compared to the klipsch synergy series. Any comments would be appreciated
avman
athena is api's(energy/mirage/veritas)entry-level speaker series. not a bad speaker, but listen to them side-by-side if possible, and hear for yourself. IMO, they DON'T compare favorably to klipsch synergy. avman.
jzoz01
Griffenator would be the guy to talk to, but IMHO you'd be better going in the direction on the Klipsch's.
dougdrake
Andre - By chance did you first come across these models at Best Buy? I ask because there has been a firestorm of debate here over the last few months when Klipsch announced they were going into Best Buy. One of the "pro's" was that it would expose more folks to the Klipsch name. If you are a Best Buy customer, would you mind sharing your experience and if you were aware of Klipsch before you went there? Also, some think that with Best Buy essentially selling Synergy series at MSRP, that the jump to the better Reference series through the other Klipsch disty channels is not that big a $ difference. Griffinator
The Athenas are pretty smooth, right up until they get to the 15K range - then you can hear a distinct rolloff - as if they were incapable of reproducing anything higher. I suspect this is a result of the synthetic silk-domes.
andypanda
I have an old AS-P400 which is still kicking and sounds good. Sometimes my cell would ring and the sub would turn on. I had this attached to a bookshelf stereo system with just using the sub in line and didnt have to adjust any settings. The bass is good. It wasn't boomy which is good but just needed some a touch of punch and push pull feeling with power.
Bill H.
If you have listened to Athena and like that sound, You should check out Mirage, or Jamo Products. (Both good Klipsch), but with a different , smoother sound. Myself, I like Jamo products.................. JMHO..............
