Tony Boone
Just curious as to how an old MCM theater system might sound say compared to a set of La Scalas? Assuming a McIntosh amp in the mix. Thanks, Tony B.
djk
Depends on the size of your room. In a big room the MCM1900 has tons more bass than the LaScala. There were two different tweeter packs, a five piezo model, and a four EV model. The piezo model has much more extended high end. The EV model will handle more power. There were two different midrange packs, a four Atlas model, and a Gauss HF4000 model. If you don't have the 10" sub-squawker the four Atlas model is better. For hi-fi or theater I like the 10" sub-squawker model with the HF4000 and the piezos the best. For live PA the 10" sub-squawker model with the four Atlas and the four EV is the best. Up close on the dance floor in a DJ situation in a smallish room the big dual 15" W-horns sound like they have no bass, nada, zip.
j-malotky
I learned this weekend (from Engineer Jim) that the MCM is the equivalent to 10 Khorns. JM

Wear a lead apron before cranking a pair of those babies If you wish the family line to continue !
