Mike Frankel
What does anyone make of this hybrid center speaker featuring Klipsch 10" Woofers, and a wooden horn, on sale now at eBay? First one I have ever seen! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3035539367&category=14992 Mike
j-malotky
That looks home made. A darn nice looking speaker IMO. Would not be a good Timbre match to a RF or a Heritage HT though. doubt if anybody here could use it. JM
USparc
Yep, indeed nice looking on the picture. I would have to see and certainly hear it before thinking of buying it. It is a huge center speaker weighing almost 40kg. I'm always chocked to see such a large speaker supported by a RPTV. Not to speak when it is playing and produces serious vibrations onto the RPTV. Steve Phillips
How about a 125 lb. La Scala on top of a 52"RCA RPTV. It has been up there for about 6 months without a single problem. This TV is 1"MDF with plenty of rear support built into the back from the factory. Hard to find that much material in most TV's built today
hwatkins
Going to best match another JBL driver. I found my ear has more difficulty distinguishing timbre differences on the woofers than on the high freqs.

It would probably also support the 125 lbs speaker but it would not be happy with the vibrations. Yours seems to be built in a wooden cabinet decoupled from the TV itself. It is indeed true that recent RPTV´s use some kind of polyester as housings. No chance these would support (or even have the room) a 125lbs speaker!! Stovebolt6
This is one of the coolest things I have ever seen on Ebay! Wish I could afford it!
colterphoto1
OMIGOD, it's gorgeous! I do wonder how the RC7 woofers work with Altec x-over and if the designer copied the Klipsch cabinetry (port) design exactly! I do like the idea of a wooden horn though, as most of those old Altec's were metal and had a definite 'ring' to them. Good luck with the sale. justin_tx_16
I just love how he posted the picture of the speaker and showed a family portrait in plain veiw, and then posted another one with the family blacked out. What good is it if you don't do both? Nice speaker though, looks like it at least. not sure it is worth $1000 though.
