MD1032
Oh no! Your dust caps are punched in? Does it affect the sound at all? BTW, the covers shouldn't affect the sound much, I believe they're sonically permeable.
pHEnomIC69
the dustcaps punched in didnt affect the sound, i popped em out very carefully with a weak vacuum and a special contraption I made. When they are punched in, they just look a little ugly.
MD1032
phew, well good for you that you were able to fix them! I'm deathly afraid of dust getting into my tweeters and ruining them, so I keep my covers on (my room is VERY dusty).
blade_runner88
Hi, I would say it depends on hears For my self, I'm hearing a difference when I remove my grills so i left them off btw, the cap in the middle of your speaker is there just to protect the coil of your driver from the dust. Chan
heh, If you have kids.. keep them ON! Those little hands could puncture the paper covers or they could poke it with a pen or something deadlier. Personally, I cannot notice a difference with them on or off. So I prefer to leave it on just in case some kids some into my room.
MD1032
I remember my Z-540's, which had a HORRIBLE grill design. OK, the inside was this plastic frame, which already was constricting a lot where the sound could escape. Second, the screens were NOT sonically permeable and sounded horrible, easily making the satts sound muddy, audibly so. My ear was not half as expirienced as it is now, and I could detect it then!! pHEnomIC69
Yeah i heard a lot of places the logitech grill on those does affect the sound.
MD1032
I've heard the DESIGN on the 560's is the primary problem. The grills sit too far away from the drivers and cause problems. I forget what the problem is, but it ends up affecting the sound. Personally, I think the grills on the 560's and the 680's are useless and won't prevent dust from getting in, fingers getting underneath, etc. Might as well rip em off and throw em out. blade_runner88
I think that if they made the grills removable it's for a reason, and it's not for the look (even if i like the speaker whitout them)
jackson_ngo
For myself, i do hear quite a difference in audio quality. When the grill is removed, the sound is much more brighter. I prefer to have the grill off, but due to dust, i have the grill on most of the time.
