Moderators dtel Posted August 19, 2003 Moderators Share Posted August 19, 2003 diy sub.amp output 8 ohms @ 180w or 4 ohms @ 250w. speaker ( shiva ) dual 8 ohm voice coils, should i use one voice coil @ 180w or hook up both to get 250w . what would give the best results,or does it make a difference ? formica Posted August 20, 2003 Share Posted August 20, 2003 I don't know what enclosure you are using your driver in... but assuming that it doesn't reach it's Xmax with the 180W... I would wire the VC in parallel. Given the amp is designed to run both 8ohm and 4ohm loads and that the Shiva can take it, I don't see many reasons not to do it. The total output difference between 180W and 250W isn't very large (2db?) but it will give you a little extra headroom. Go for it...
