MBM135
I am about to go out and buy some 12 gauge speaker wire and am cringing at the price. Uhgg. I have been using 16 for years without trouble but am upgrading my system and don't want nice components to be degraded by cheap wire. Would be like putting K-Mart wheel covers on a Ferrari. Is 14 guage a decent compromise? I have some 25 foot runs to make. Probem is I can only find 12 or 16--nothing in between. Should I just suck it up and buy 12? SickPuppy
I've heard that ya can get good quality 12 guage at many major hardware stores Like Home Depot or Lowe's etc. Many people have recommended Carol wire. I personnally went with biwired AudioQuest CV 4, but that's just me...talk about cringing. But that's OK, Audio is about my only real passion besides the family so I get to spluge once in a blue moon... So yes, go for the 12 guage, its a better diet for your tunes. jdm56
Radio Shack has what I think is good 12ga. speaker cable for the money. I think they call it "Mega Cable" or something. I would definitely go with the heavy stuff for long runs. ------------------ JDMcCall
Malcolm
Actually, 16 gauge ought to be sufficient for a 25 foot run. See http://www.sundial.net/~rogerr/wire.htm for what the people at McIntosh say.
bev
MM, I just bought a 250' spool of 12-ga Carol at Home Depot. Ran about $60-65. Use the search feature to research the threads on speaker wire, for more info.. Bev ------------------ Love & kisses on your Klipsch's!!! Mighty Favog
The 12 ga. at Radio Shack ran me 47-49 cents/foot. I just about drop my jaw after paying Best Buy $65 a 50 ft. roll. By the way they are both "Original Monter Cable"
