Pitricolo
Your opinion for a Home Theater and music system. I have a Sony STR-DE945 amplifier, which klipsch speakers should I buy? Thanks for your help.
dougdrake
Why, the biggest, baddest of them, of course Seriously, what kind of budget do you have? How big a room are you trying to fill with sound. Do you have any placement issues, like a wall of windows, or something like that? Doug
Pitricolo
Good point! budget: around 2k room: 6x12 meters, 3 to 4 meters height with wooden roof. One of the large walls with a lot of windows. Placement of tv: one of the 6 meters walls
Mikekid
Meters!! Man, now I'm confused.. Anyway, 19 feet by 39 feet sound right? (I had to look up a conversion table. Isn't that sad??!) Thats a GOOD sized room so I think I'd shoot for the KLF-20/KLF-30 mains, and KLF-C7 center. I am not sure which of the current surrounds would be best with these (someone help??) If you have a dealer around, do a test drive on the different Klipsch lines. My ears are simply HUGE, so I hear things differently than most normal people. But hey...at least I don't have a tin-ear like that BobG dude! Take care (ChorusII's rule!) HornEd
Gee, Mikekid, the avatar just doesn't do your ears justice. You need to appeal to a higher authority like BobG's tinsmith & avatar maker. HornEd
Mikekid
Ya know, you are right! I need to find an ELEPHANT and use IT as my avatar..HAA!!. Actually, my ears aren't THAT big!
bensilb
You could also try the Reference series. (If I am not mistaken, the Legends are no longer in production. Correct my if I am wrong.) There is a great selection and the new ones coming out in a few weeks sound like they are pretty good. "Sound" being a pun. I haven't listened to them because they are not out yet, but their specs sound good.
USparc
bensilb, I think you are right about the legend's. The link in the home audio for the legend's is no more. RF-3 IS NUMBER ONE Pitricolo, Serious sized room. The reference series RF-3-5or7 would like to be in there. Choose according to the money you like to spend. Just be carefull with that receiver you have. I had a STR-DB930. It had problems on low volume levels with the RF-3's due to the high sensitivity. The right channel was still playing at low volume while the left was death. When turning the volume gently up the left came slowly in. Even more: accurate volume control was not possible. Conclusion: background music was not possible. I think Sony is not aware (and maybe others)that high efficient speakers do exist!!! Give it first a try with that receiver of yours. Just of the record a litle education: 1 m (meter) = 3.28 ft(feet) 1 " (inch) = 2.54 cm(centimeter) 1 m = 100 cm 1 ft = 12 " ------------------ ------------------------- Receiver: Onkyo 676 DVD: Pioneer DV-525 Screen: Thomson 46" RetroProjection Front: RF-3's Rear: RF-3's Center: RC-
