jt1stcav
KJ, keep it! Use it for your HT subwoofer! My original 20 year old M-400t is now powering my brother's home-made subs (2 cabinets, each containing two 15" sub drivers)! These ol' Carver amps are indestructable! Your C-500 is a rare model to be sure...I'll never sell my trusty M-400t! Because we both use switched outlets with delay on our line conditioners (my bro uses a Panamax Max1000), there is no audible pops when the amps come on. If you don't have a switched outlet on your preamp/processor, then try using a line conditioner...just my thoughts on the situation.
Soundthought
Jim- You've got some great looking gear. I especially like the big Mac on the floor. I'm planning on getting some of those big ole blue metered babies, someday. For now, my 2100 is tiding me over. Seeing that last picture of you reminded me that it's time for me to get a haircut. Tom..Tom...Tom I have nothing but respect for you. BTW. Molly is doing just fine. The kids like her, but the dogs don't. We've been hanging out between 240Hz and 4kHz. Craig- save me from this audio graveyard. I'm freaking out over here. Remember the movie "Maximium Overdrive"? I would be in deep crap if that ever happened. Back to the maggies for some quality time. Many of my friends that keep popping over are stunned at the first site of these things. I'm hearing things like, "I thought those were room dividers" and "How do they work?". I feel like I explained basic planar propogation principles about a hundred times. That's cool, though, because It just helps me to understand it better. It's sounding good so far. I'll keep ya posted. Cheers, John

Don't despair, your MC2100 is one fine Mac! My brother is now selling his since he bought a JoLida JD 202a tube amp. He'll either auction it off on eBay, or sell it on AudiogoN.com for $600 (it's in near-mint condition). If you're interested in buying another MC2100 and bridging the two in mono for your new Magnepans, let me know!
jt1stcav
What better combination for your Magnepans than having two bridged MC2100 amps (@ 210+ watts mono), plus excellent photocopies of the original owners/service manuals. This amp's in pristine condition, and sounds as good as the day it was made. Don't you hear your Maggies calling out to this Mac amp? Listen... jt1stcav
Glad you like it, fini. I also shaved off my chest hair and glued it too my chin...painstaking work!
Tony Boone
I've got a set of Magnepan MG2A speakers if anyone is interested. They're in excellent condition and sound like Magnepans should. I prefer my La Scalas though. Would consider a trade for an amp. Thanks, Tony B.
Soundthought
Jim- She's a good looking amp. I still haven't figured out what i'm gonna do with these maggies, yet. Probably keep 'em. They are big and beautiful, but where am I going to put them? Hmmmm. Don't think they would last long in the basement. The garage is definately a no-go. Maybe, I can shoe-horn them into my office. They did sound good on just 1 Adcom, but they open up more with both running. It's definately a trade off in sound quality. Regards, John. NOSValves
John, I will say one thing you did a complete 360 in a week. You went from getting Khorns to Maggies !! What a ride LOL !!
jt1stcav
John, by all means, don't get rid of those Maggies! Find the room somewhere to install them; a second audio system in a bedroom or den...whatever. And use the dual bridged Adcom amps if the sound is more open and detailed. If I had the room and the cash for another audio-only system, I'd also own Magnepans again. Don't get me wrong, I love Klipsch and will always have my Cornwalls (and maybe someday Klipschorns), but I also love Maggies and their distinct sound and imaging characteristics. You're a lucky man to have both. Believe me if I was in your shoes, I'd find the room somewhere, somehow, for those mint Magnepans!
