JohnWhite
I just picked up a pair of Cornwall Speakers from Ebay. The cabinets are in pretty good condition but might could use a little cleaning up. Here is the ebay link, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3060121750&category=14993&rd=1, Im not to sure of the type of wood the cabinet is made of. Any advice would be appreciated. fini
Hi, John! Those look very nice! They were made in 1981, and were sold unfinished (CBR on the label indicates Cornwall Birch Raw). Someone has put a clear finish on them. Congrats! fini
JohnWhite
Thanks, there does look like some small paint splatter on the tops of the cabinets, I figured I would do a light sanding the use a clear stain to finish them.

In other words, if you are able to remove the defects without sanding through the existing clear coat... you have no problem varnishing over it. On the other hand, if you are forced to sand through the finish in some spots, sand it off (or chemically strip) the whole side to keep the finish even. By the way, nice cornwalls... good luck Rob
