kuisis
Just thought I'd post a little review. I received my first tube amp today, a scott 222C/Mobley modified. I hooked it up and was amazed. I can't believe how clear and crisp the amp sounded through the la scala's. It really made some of my cd's sound like remixes. I've only been listening for an hour and I see how the amp improves as it warms up.
T2K
Nice amp, congratulations. Mine seems to sound the best after about 2 hours. I do not leave mine on all the time. What tubes are you using? Keith

kuisis
As far as I know the tubes are four russian power tubes(7189), the two original scott splitters, two telefunken 12ax7's and two bogen/mullard 12ax7's. All I know is that they sound great! Does anybody know how the old a/b inputs to the amp correspond to the L/R of the new equipment. I think I have them right, but I just want to be sure! Yes I do believe that I'm hooked!
Tom Mobley
What he's got is a decent 222C I bought off ebay last year. It has Craig's Russian caps, corrected bias voltage resistor, a rectifier replacing the Selenium gizmo and some decent tubes. It's got the Russian 7189 power tubes, original Scott 5AR4 and splitters, Bogen labeled Mullards in the line stage and Telefunkens in the phono pre. Tom, after you get settled in with that thing, get used to its sound you can swap the preamp tubes, they're all 12AX7's, some people claim that Mallards and Telefunkens sound different. Right now the Mullards are in the line stage, that what you're hearing listening to the CD player through the Extra jacks. The Tf's in the phono stage don't really do much until you hook a turntable to amp and switch the input to the phono settings. Gives an opportunity for free tube rolling until you get the TT hooked up. Tom
kuisis
I think I'll try that. You were right Tom it's a huge improvement over SS.

All the vintage amps I've used have left=A right=B. Congrats! You'll never go back.
