Cryogenic tube comparison

I just sent four cryogenically treated tubes off to Craig for an audition. He appears to be running the same Chinese KT-88s tubes in non -cryoed form in his Dynacos. I have compared these to a set of JJ electronics KT 88s as well as a set of Sovtek KT-66s' in my Cary Rocket 88. It will be intesting to have him compare them to the "stock" versions.

I think that the cryoed tubes are much more musical and provide the best overall sound (detail, warmth, punch and all that). But as is evident from just about every post on the forum, people tend to like the sound of what they have invested in! Maybe it's some sort of psychosomatic affliction that appears to be pretty common around here (see SET vs PP discussions for examples of this affliction).

So I m getting a second opinion from some one I trust to give me his no BS point of view. Ill look forward to his opinion!

Yea this should be interesting. I have been running some Chineese Gec copies of the KT66's and they sound very good. But I'm going to put my Golden Areo KT88's back in for the next few day to get used to there sound before I put Josh's superman tubes in. It will take me day's of listening to get a real impression. I'm not one to jump to conclusion with this stuff.

I'm looking forward to hearing Craig's report.

Josh, I got curious after one of your posts a while back on these cryo'd tubes. Order a pair of cryo'd Chinese 6SN7's to check out in my Wrights. That combination is not an ideal test setup, since the 6sn7's of different manufacture sound surprisingly different in the 2A3. The tubes I tried weren't bad, just didn't shine like the vintage chrome domes.

I'm not sure what the procedure is. I believe a internet search would bring up the details. I just have no time to dig it up these day's. I'm not sure where Josh even bought this set of tubes. I'm sure he will pop in and let us know what the details are.
