All the drivers work & horns sound clear. I think the year is 97. I am 2nd owner and have had them for about 6 months. And I forgot to mention my psychic abilities (more like intuition). I like the 5.5's. Like I said I have owned a set since '95. and recently bought a second pair and a pair of 5.2's. I have a pair of Icon 15 and really like them, so these I'm sure are better. Yes they would be ideal. Yet I don't know how well they will match sonically with the icon series. You can get titanium tweeter replacements for these which will help them integrate with the icons. There are good deals going around on these speakers keep looking!!!!
