GRB
LMAO. Surely someone needs part of what may have been a k-horn at some time. If this guy sells this thing then I have a whole basement full of junk going on e-bay immediately. Unbelievable!
Griffinator
Man, that looks like a horn from out of a Synergy bookshelf, only repainted to match the plywood front!
playntheblues
I have to echo D-MAN's W-T-F!!!
sheltie dave
It might be worth checking out if you happen to live close to him. The veneer is close to the oak I have seen on a pretty shorthorn. This could be a kit licensed version where the guy chucked the mid where he wanted it. Probably boloxed up, but if it has good provenence, it could sound decent. It definitely has a home plate from the era... You definitely need to kick the tires on this one, though
mungkiman
I agree that this is worth a look. It is essentially an early, 2-way (not original), Klipschorn. If I understand my Klipschorn geometry, the University 4409 tweeter shown (capable of 600-15,000 cps) is actually placed within the back-chamber volume off the bass-bin itself; my assumption being that the horn mouth is sealed well to the front panel. Note that the top panel is shaped like the earliest of Klipschorns. This auction could certainly be for a licensed version, DIY, or potentially a gem. Check it out and let us know! sheltie dave
Info from the seller: So far as I know, there is no tag or serial No. on my klipsch horn. I bought it from Danby Radio (a hi-fi shop in Phila. (now long gone) in about 1905 +- a couple of years. The seller, Dan Greenfield was well known in the hi-fi world at the time (and until his death many years later). That's all I can tell you about its provenance.
