chrisgm
I am interested in matching an amplifier/receiver with either the rf-15 or rf-35 speakers. Here's the catch. My amplifier (Dennon 1604) is a bottom line model and only delivers 75 watts to each front speaker. I'm not interested in buying a new receiver which I'll explain later. Given that limitation, which speaker would work better with my amplifier/receiver? I like the rf-35, but I'm not sure that the relatively weak amplifier could adequately drive it. In this case, would the smaller rf-15 be a better choice? I'm not an audiophile and don't need the perfect system. I'll only use the two Klipsch front speakers in my system, which will be used for movies and music. Also, I don't need to have the ability to shake the house with a loud system. I'm simply looking for something relatively inexpensive that sounds decent by my uneducated standards. The only reason I favor the rf-35 over the rf-15 is its capability to deliver better lows (I don't intend to use a subwoofer with the system). All opinions appreciated. love_hertz
Welcome to the forum!!! I think you would be fine since KLIPSCH are very efficient. Just as long as the reciever isn't stored in a small confined space, they need to breath.
JDB_Rocks
75 wpc will be sufficient for the 35s but MHO would be to try to find some 3IIs if u can. They're better soundin IMHO than the 35s or 15s and can be found at better prices if u'r patient or able to find them. Best thing is o let ur ears decide. Where r u locatd & what receiver do u have? Klipsch RF7
Your best off to get out that Denon and go with a vintage 70's Marantz solid state reciever. Its going to sound much, much better and have tons more bass and sound alot warmer and rich compared to the cheap new solid state low end recievers and its going to cost less as well. My buddy bought my RF-3's from me and they are pretty much the same speaker and it sounds wonderful, tons of bass and very warm sounding on his Marantz 2250 reciever, it brings the speakers to life. That Denon is not a high current reciever and does not come close to feeding the RF's what they need. Here is several sweet Marantz 2270 70watts per channel stereo recievers that will sound awesome with your RF's! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3081161426&category=50596 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3081021938&category=50591 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3080938252&category=50591
