  1. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-RF-82-Main-Stereo-Speakers-Pair-Cherry-Excellent-Condition-/281268134796?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item417ce3238c Just saw these on ebay. Local pick-up in Hilliard OH (near Columbus). Only possible downside is seller has 0 feedback.
  2. Damn I wish I lived closer to MA!!!! Ridiculously awesome price for these speakers.
  3. Due to the odd shape of my living room and limited surround placement options in my apartment, I'm wanting to upgrade to a 5.1 system so I've been trying to find some nice RSX-5s (or even RSX-4s) at a reasonable price for quite a while now with no luck. I've not really been seeing them up for sale much recently and when I do they go for a price. In looking around for the RSXs I'm seeing more RCX-4s available at reasonable prices. So my thinking is that since I can more easily get 2 RCX-4s for the same or less than 2 RSX-5s or 4s would the RCX-4s work as surrounds in my setup (see below). I would love to use some RS-xx surrounds but that's just not feasible. I need the wall &/or ceiling mount capabilities, flexible positioning and lighter weight of the RSX/RCX speakers. Thanks for reading and I look forward to your input.
  4. Dean ... I also have the RF-3IIs up front and I actually chose them over the RF-35s. I spent about 8 or so hours on several trips to my local Ovation store here A/B testing various speakers. After narrowing it down to the 3IIs & 35s I even had the audio guy to blind test both speakers against other brands and against each other using various reciver/cd player combos and my ears preferred the 3IIs over every other speaker they had except the RF-7s. I've been extremely pleased with my 3IIs especially getting them for $550/pair as they were being clearanced to make room for the "new" (at the time) RF35s. Mine are paired up with an RW-10d and have mucho plenty low end for my 14x22 livig room. Hope this helps and happy hunting. peace, mitch PS ... Dean, I didn't see what your budget is but I saw these RF-7s in the Garage Sale forum, http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/100256.aspx , and I wish I had the $700 + shipping for these bad boyz. Very sweet deal.
  5. This is just to see how quickly you can react to the screen changing NOT how well you can pick up a moving baseball, calcullate its speed & direction and then decide when to swiiiiing! For that, try this one out: http://www.hyfntrak.com/monsterbaseball/AFF25862/go.php The distances of the hits are IMHO a tad bit inflated but it's fun *&* addictive. My bests are 559' and 13 HRs in one round & best high score so far its 497371 in 80 levels. For real reaction time try this: http://www.pedregonracing.com/rt_game.asp my best here is a .003 (not counting NUMEROUS red lights!!) NOTE: After you stage it's a random time until the amber lights come on then it's .400 sec until the green light comes on Have fun & Enjoy! peace, mitch
  6. Tweeking Fred's memory a bit more it was Tyce 'T-Bone' Carlson in 1997 ......
  7. Neither! NHRA Drag Racing .... Loud music & fast(est) cars are the way to go! Besides, for what it would cost to become an Associate sponsor in IRL/NASCAR/ChampCar you could be a Primary sponsor in Drag Racing (MORE EXPOSURE ON THE CAR, TRANSPORTER & CREW UNIFORMS). Most of the teams that have hospitality areas right next to their pit area have big flat screens and sound systems set up in them and many have a separate souind system set up in the pit area where the crew works on the car. So why would this be better than the other racing series you ask? Well, when you go to a drag race you (the fan-sumer) get access to the pit area that is MUCH less restrictive than the other racing seriies and you can get right up to the pit/hospitality areas where you (prospective buyer) will be able to HEAR AND SEE these set ups. Heck, JVC has realized this advantage that drag racing has and signed a sponsorship deal with a Pro Stock team and is supplying the team with lotsa audio & video gear to use in their hospitality and pit areas. Then there is the fact that drag racing fans are extremely brand loyal to companies that support the sport. Just my 2 abes worth. peace, mitch
  8. Hey Roseanne ... ummmm,, DaddyDee .... those are not speakers but as you said tthey are some sort of art deco-ish architectural feature between the solid lower part of the balcony wall and the upper hand rail part. Look here: http://www.perrymasontvseries.com/pmo_annex.htm Interesting observation tho. peace, mitch
  9. Anybody wanna float me a 2 grand loan? I'm sure I'll be able to pay it back REALLY quick! Such a great deal in my own back yard & I'm so broke I can barely pay attention! [] peace, mitch
  10. Are you sure you're just not under-height for your weight??!!??? [*-)]
  11. What new products at where? I was home sleeping all day Saturday. Had a really weird dream about this little dude with a Southern accent that talked like he was jacked up on a case of Full Throttle energy drink ....could hardly understand a damn thing he said! Then it got even stranger when I heard this Aussie guy claiming that when he worked for Bose he had some KlipschHorns at home! Yeah, right dude ... and my butt chews bubble gum too! [] The rest is just even stranger with some really strange people I ain't never seen before talkin jibberish or some secret code that I could only figger out about every 3rd word or so. Then I woke up.
  12. Michael, Fresh off the Pilgrimage .... hearing some unbelievable products and great technical advice/opinions, etc. let me toss out a few thoughts. First off, seeing that the right side of your layout (kitchen, nook, family room) have 12' ceilings have you considered 12' ceilings for the HT room? I don't know if that woulod be a substantial cost consideration or not ... could be since I noticed that the middle left bedroom is only an 8' as opposed to the 10' in the front & rear left side bedrooms. I bring this up b'cuz you say that at least the 3rd row of seating will be raised and one of the panelists @ the Town Hall meeting, Gavin(?) from Auralex Acoustics ( that they demo'd @ the Pilgrimage and those little buggers kicked some serious @$$!!!!! B4 Saturday I'd probly have NEVER considered in-wall speakers but these things with their 15 degree pivoting horns might make me seriously re-consider in-walls for rear/side speakers or for an inconspicuous system in a place where floorstanmder/bookshelf/mini speakers might not be appropriate/feasible. Just my 2 abes worth. peace, mitch
  13. Michael, Just curious about what display/TV will you using? Knowing that might help in advising on your propsed storage/built-in entertainment wall. What type of flooring have you considered? I'm guessing the room will basiclly be drywall walls & ceiiling? As MatrixD suggtested, I'd definitely put sound-proofing along, at least, the HT/Bedroom interior wall & any outside walls that might be near or become being near any neighbor's house. Cheaper to do it right from the jump then having to hear whiny neighbors later! peace, mitch
  14. Michael, Personally, I'd pony up the $200 to get the RF-82s or RF-7s (on ebay Direct from Klipsch) if they still have them. The 7s are still around out there. If you go this way, the RC-64 or RC-7 for center channel should work well I think. Surrounds can go either way, an RS-xx or RF-xx, opinion seems split on this among forumers, depending on aesthetics, space and of course WAF! Just a few quick thoughts on my way out the door. peace, mitch
  15. That's where the ones I saw yesterday S'bound on Michigan Rd were coming from as I was heading home from werk! Thnx 4 da pics Trey. peace, mitch
  16. Quick update: LPs spared from yard sale. No list but I have the box of 50 LPs. I'll look 'em over and get a list out *hopefully* next week. No computer until Monday! :[] Going to the Nostalgia Drag Races @ IRP this weekend. C U L8R Bye. mitch
  17. Joe .... I was in the process of replying to you (see below) when I called my friend to confirm your offer price (which *I* feel is fair & acceptable) . However, she said that her daughter had looked on ebay and saw records going for $10 to $35+ .... I looked thrrough *25* pages just now and only saw 2 LPs with actual bids higher than your generous offer that she *might* have in this lot. She was going to go home and make a list and call me to tell me what she has. That was 3 hours ago .... I'm still waiting for her to call. I'll keep you posted. peace, mitch My interrupted e-mail reply: Joe, I know that these would only be a buck or two LPs but it was a last minute thing, her daughters are organizing/running the sale & really don't have the time (or maybe the desire) to make a list. I'm just trying to help a friend and give the Klipsch vinyl-heads a shot @ some well cared for albums with nice clean covers too. She did tell me today that there are about 6 covers with no LP & 1 LP with no cover. $1 each will apply only to LPs w/covers and throw in the extra covers.
  18. A friend of mine is putting her old 70s-80s rock LPs in a yard sale this weekend. I thought maybe someone here might be interested in them. She says they're in Excellent shape, which they most likely are close to but we know one person's Exc is another's Good, and she did take good care of them with almost all still having their inner sleeves with them. There are approx 40 LPs and are mostly from the radio fare bands of the late 70s to early-80s. I don't know any specific LPs in the group and they are being sold as a complete lot to the highest offer. If interested please LMK your offer (preferably by e-mail: mosika@iupui.edu ) before 5PM ET Friday 8 June (my home copmputer is dead right now). If you'll be coming to the Pilgrimage in Indy and will be able to take them back home with you, I will hold on to them until then to save you on having them shipped (I live ~2 miles from Klipsch HQ). If nobody wants to rescue these poor helpless LPs they'll probably sit baking in the hot sun being grabbed, fondled and God knows what else by total strangers who don't even own a turntable and will just tell their kids that they used to have the same album before they bought the CD! Thanks. peace, mitch
  19. I guess you'll have to find out how they define EXCESSIVE. [*-)]
  20. It's one of the only Network shows I watch. I got hooked when SciFi replayed the episodes leading into SciFiFriday (SG-1, SG-Atl & BSG). Now, who else is pissed about how SciFi left BSG fans hanging until 2008! peace, mitch
