Hard 21
With the R35 5.1 (RW12) set up, using HK AVR7200, is it possible/likely that I will/can bust any of my speakers? Can I turn this thing all the way up (not sure I will want to) and not worry about it? Or is there a certain wattage I should not go past? Frzninvt
Your speakers and ears will tell you when you are pushing the system too hard! I would be scared to do that myself, you would be talking SPL in the 130db range in my living room - YIKES! Most people would be running for cover by then. lancestorm
I have the AVR 625 and have not come even close to pushing the receiver too far. The Klipsch speakers are easy to make sing. Only rarely have I approached the "0" volume mark. And then my ears give in and I have to turn it down. I don't think you have much to worry about. Especially with that H/K AVR7200. To put this in perspective. I did an SPL test with my own setup once just to see "what it can do" (RF-7s with B&K Ref 200.7 amp). I was getting sustained 120db with peaks pegging the needle on my Rat Shack SPL meter. Neither my amp nor my speakers were showing any signs of strain. As loud as that was, it was still very surprisingly listenable, with no distortian at all. I could've turned it up even louder, but holly cow - 120db was plenty loud enough! Again, unless you do something really stupid, like over enhance the bass or treble with an equalizer or the tone controls (seen this to many times in the store, especially with the car audio - subs bottoming out, etc), you should be able to just about throw anything at those Klipsch and they will just happily play it with aplomb.
