Cleve
If you're willing to look at used equipment, iv you could find a used McIntosh MC2205 in good condition, that would be my recommendation. If you look carefully on Ebay or Audiogon, you can find one for about your budget. 200 w/ch of true power with Autoformers that's relatively immune to any impedance or load considerations, not some overrated 'modern' amp that weighs 15-20 lbs and has no clipping or DC protection (The Mac has both). If you don't care about blue VU meters, you can get the MC2200 (same features and power as the MC2205, I think it's the same amp without power meters!) for significantly less. Other Macs worth consideration... MC2120, or 2125 - 120 watts per channel MC2150, or 2155 - 150 w/ch Hopefully I will own a 2205, or it's bigger siblings, in the very near future Good luck! swampcat
I power KLF-10's with an adcom gfa555II. The adcom II is warmer than org 555. works well for me. Stereophile Just did a review of a new adcom amp. said much warmer and better than older adcoms. Very powerful and inexpensive
