yeapbeowheng
recently acquired a pair of klipsch tangent T-4000,and drive it with my EL34 amp. However, i have found a crack line developing on the Fiber-composite cone woofer(K-27-K 12"), could anyone advice how to seal the crack line? Please advice whether the speaker worth to repair, or i should simply upgrade to RF-35.
ZAKO
Run a bead line of Gorilla Glue on both sides of the crack. Let set for 24 hours. Then let er rip for a test run.
Istari
Maron, I hate to question you but, Gorilla Glue? That stuff might foam up once its applied. I know it does when its used with wood.
ZAKO
You might be right if it intreacts with some cone materials. If cone is mostly paper it will be OK . But if other material.....It may cause cone to wrinkle or shrink. Ive used it on plastic PVC but not epoxy resin materials. But boy is it strong. Test it first. Deang
Mostly paper on those cones, but Gorilla glue is terrible stuff to use unless you need two pieces of wood to NEVER come apart. I would just mix up some good 5 minute epoxy and spread it on with a Q-tip.
colterphoto1
fingernail polish, but use CLEAR. People will wonder about you if they find colored polish in your tool box.
Klipsch Employees Trey Cannon Posted July 12, 2004 Klipsch Employees Share Posted July 12, 2004 around the shop, on a paper cone, I use good ol elmers. The main thing is not to go to heavy with the glue. to much weight can cause the woofer a shorted life....I am not sure, but I think we still have the k-27 woofer, you could just get a new one if you have to. contact parts 1-800-554-7724. And if you were to upgrade, go to the RF-35, it's the latest model...
