Kain
I was going to get the Sony STR-V555ES but a lot of people are saying that it hisses A LOT. So, now I decided to get some other receiver. Which receiver should I get that is around $1300? ------------------ Computer: AMD T-bird 1.0GHz@1.0GHz AOpen AK73 Pro 2x 128MB Mushkin High Performance REV3 222 IBM Deskstar 75GXP 30GB AOpen DVD-1640 Pro (16X DVD/40X CD) ATI Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO Hercules Game Theater XP Samsung SyncMaster 900IFT CSW DeskTop Theater 5.1 DTT3500 Digital Home Theater: TV: Sony KV-ES34M91 (34" FD Trinitron WEGA) DVD: Sony DVP-S9000ES Receiver: Sony STR-V555ES Speakers - Center: Klipsch RC-3 Mains: Klipsch RF-3 Surrounds: Klipsch RS-3 Subwoofer: Klipsch KSW-
Kain
I did some reserch and came up with the Yamaha RX-V3000. edster00
Hi KAiN64- I have a Yamaha RX-V995 and I like it very much. Many folks on this site prefer Denon products. 1 thing the Denon offers that my Yamaha doesn't is 5 channel stereo without using any DSP modes. I don't listen to much music in my HT room (with the Yamaha) but I think that is a great feature. I wish my receiver had it. I am not sure if the RX-V3000 offers this or not, or if it is important to you. I believe it is a quality product, some think Yamaha is "harsher" (is that a word?) than some other brands. BTW I think it would be better than the Sony. ------------------ Ed W This message has been edited by edster00 on 07-24-2001 at 07:22 AM
Kain
Thanks for the reply. But out of the Denon AVR-4800 and the Yamaha RX-V3000, which is the better one and why. ------------------ Computer: AMD T-bird 1.0GHz@1.0GHz AOpen AK73 Pro 2x 128MB Mushkin High Performance REV3 222 IBM Deskstar 75GXP 30GB AOpen DVD-1640 Pro (16X DVD/40X CD) ATI Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO Hercules Game Theater XP Samsung SyncMaster 900IFT CSW DeskTop Theater 5.1 DTT3500 Digital Home Theater: TV: Sony KV-ES34M91 (34" FD Trinitron WEGA) DVD: Sony DVP-S9000ES Receiver: Yamaha RX-V3000 Speakers - Center: Klipsch RC-3 Mains: Klipsch RF-3 Surrounds: Klipsch RS-3 Subwoofer: Klipsch KSW-
HornEd
It is first and foremost a matter of your ears in your listening environment... (and, secondly, a factor of bang-for-the-buck if economics rears its ugly head ) Let no one convince you of any other final judge... with the possible exception of a significant other (but, perhaps, that's a post for a different board):^{ I have auditioned the top-of-the-line Yamaha and Denon receivers for my ears in my environment... and selected the Yamaha RX-V3000 (which is not the top-of-the-line Yamaha). It has all the power an efficient Klipsch system needs, automatically shifts to 6.1 for any 5.1 source, has DAC's for "warped" listening inter-planetary guests, has a "decent" but not superlative remote, and seems to provide a better bass management solution for me... but the truly large difference between the two, IMHO, was the ability the V3000 gave me to set up a mind-expanding front effects soundstage that makes my mains and center sound like much better speakers than they are. The Denon 4800 (and, my favorite the 5800) are truly great receivers... and I especially liked the ability to have different sets of rear/side/surround effects. Of course, the Denons and the Yamaha RX-V1 have more power... but who needs it with a Klipsch HT? And, in experimenting with different full-range and WDST rear-array configs... my ears told me to keep the rig outlined below... for the time being. Of course, if you have the ear and the "fiddle-factor" patience for it... separates are always a nice way to fly... at least my favorite ex-wife thinks so! Kain
Thanks. montigue
Yammy's are cool toys with lots of extra stuff for the money you pay. And they do sound good with Klipsch. If you want true dynamic sound with fantastic high's and low's go with a high current amp like Marantz, Carver of Harman Kardon. Ive tried all of them with Klipch and I can tell you from experience you won't get the same bass output and dynamic sound with a yammy or Dennon. DillonW
KAiN64 - Unfortuantly a blanket statement that a particular receiver is "THE" best for Klipsch speakers can never be truely accurate. Your reference speakers will sound and react different than KLFs, KGs or LaScalas. There are subtile differences even within the Klipsch lines, or we wouldn't be talking about tone & timbre. If you are fortunate enough to be able to demo your choices, don't simply go by our words, the only truth lies through and between your ears. But, since you solicited optinions, I would also give a resounding endorsement to the RX-V3000! ------------------ Thanks, Bill Dillon Mains: LaScalas Center: KLF C7 Front Effects: None Yet Rears: Chorus IIs Rear Center: None Yet Sub: Velodyne CT150 Receiver: Yamaha RX-V3000 DVD: Sony 560D TV: Toshiba 61" 61H70
iluvhifi
kain64 Instead of the Yamaha RX-V3000 another option is the RX-V1000. I would prefer this over the other simply because of the 500.00 price difference. The other reason is for 500 all your getting extra is 10 watts per channel extra, a few more sound fields, a powered rear center (for dolby 6.1 and DTS ES) which the 1000 has but it is a preout. So the question you have to ask yourself is do you want 6.1 if so then the 3000 is for you other than that they are pretty much the same reciever. This Yamaha/Klipsch combination rocks and doesnt sound to "bright" peace
