tommy499
I am looking at a pair of 1976 Khorns. The have the AA crossovers. Is this a good year for horns? I have not seen them yet. The pics look nice. What should I look for? The asking price is around $ 2200.00. Thanks for the help. Tom
Parrot
Yes, 1976 was an excellent year, the year my Khorns were built. Whether the ones you are looking at are worth $2200 depends on their finish and condition. It's a little too much for an average pair, but would be okay for outstanding wood. Dylanl
Tommy, I still have my 1974 pair for sale. I could send you pictures. I am asking a lot less than 2200 for mine. I have them listed on Audiogon.
garymd
Mine are also '76s. Excellent year. Make sure they are type "B" for that money along with the nice veneer as already mentioned. If you get them, be sure to have Dean build you some crossovers. Made a big difference in mine.

I also have 76 khorns and stock they sound magnificent. Gary, elaborate on the crossovers (or point me to the thread(s) where it was thoroughly discussed). It's hard to believe they could actually sound better. Forrest

It's also on the tag on the rear of the speaker. Example, KB-WO = Klipschorn, Model B - Walnut Oil Forrest - There are many, many threads on crossovers. You really don't know how much difference they can make until you get a new pair. I went with the Auricap "A" version. Really smooths out the sound. Hard to explain (for me anyway) but contact Dean and he can fill you in better than I. After almost 30 years they can really drift pretty far from spec.
