stimpy451
Did a quick search on this forum and didn't see any prior posts, so I assume this is a safe topic: I'd like to know what you all consider to be the best-recorded LP/CD for testing your rigs. I'm partial to hard rock and classical, but I really hope nobody mentions the "Carmina Burana" of any orchestra. =) What really gets me going in classic rock is three piece bands with incredible separation and detail, like Cream, Hendrix, oddball studio Bs from the Who like "Water" or the live recording of "Don't Happen That Way At All". Hendrix's Electric Ladyland LP with "If 6 Were 9" is pretty high up there, as is Voodoo Chile . Oooh, I could make a list a mile long. Hopefully someone will turn me on to something else with this thread... Pete K-horns coming Saturday. "You say CarMEENA, I say CarmEYEna, let's call the whole thing Orff." Chris Robinson
Pete, congrats on the Khorns arriving Saturday! Should be fun Actually, we just did one of these threads within the last two weeks, I think. You might scroll back a bit. OTOH, again, my favorite is still Stevie Ray Vaughn, "Tin Pan Alley" off of "Couldn't Stand the Weather" Closest I've ever come to living INSIDE a guitar. Coytee
I'm kind of partial to the Osmonds Christmas album, or Tony Orlando & Dawn live in Dallas Ok, so I have warped sense of humor
ben.
Daniel Lanois "Shine" comes to mind. I find the music has to matter to the listener, though. I can't just trot out "Ben's Best of..." and expect them to be blown away.
