Jim Cornell
Im on my way to H/T!!!!!! I have the reciever just sitting here, but havent decided on some things yet!! I bought 2 UTAH speakers at a yard sale, and was going to use both of them for center, im going up against 4 cornwalls!! They are a 3 way 12inch, horn loaded tweeter!! They call this horn load, i guess!! OR, i was thinking about using a JBL horn, and building a center channel!! HHMMMMMMMM!!! JBL horn center, might be irratating!! I have a K-33-E and 2 K-77-ms, anyone have a crossover? Ill just build one!! Well im in no hurry!! Regards Jim

boa12
jim, another cornwall or a heresy is of course the better timbre match, but i've found the klf c7 matches well w/ my cornwalls. & hey it is a designed center & was recommended for the cornwall by klipsch back when it was in official production. in fact i just yesterday picked up another for $295 shipping included at ubid. now all i need is a new 6.1 channel preamp/amp or receiver . hoping the new marantz will do it for a trade-up. ------------------ Klipsch KLF 30 (front), KLF C7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnect/Monster MCX-2 biwire & Z1 cable Marantz SR-8000 receiver Sony DVP-C650D 5-disk cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2100 digital cable box Boa's Listenin Lounge: Klipsch RF-3, RC-3 Monster MCX-1 Biwire Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage 1975) Russound AB-2 receiver switch to RF-3 Teac PD-D1200 5-disk cd changer Technics SL-1950 turntable/AT LS500 cartridge rock on! boa12
jim, try http://www.ubid.com/actn/opn/getpage.asp?AuctionId=5444646 but i can feel some who think or know there're better center matches for cornwalls cringing right now; or anyone bidding on ubid now i got mine for the current price of $249 plus they tack on about another $45 for "shipping". but hey for that price for a pretty decent match to the corns & new & full klipsch warranty (5 yrs.)! of course u may want to listen to 1 if possible at your local dealer & maybe they'll even come close to matching that price. they are a great center & match well in voicing & spl (99db) to the corns. best match imo & ears for the price new. though u may also want to consider a single heresy for more $. guess a single cornwall if u could find 1 is too big anyway? have also heard that an academy is a good match & klipsch lists it as the best center for a cornwall II. may find those used here or at www.ebay.com This message has been edited by boa12 on 08-20-2001 at 02:02 AM
Jim Cornell
Thank you BOA!! Single corn, is to big, I am looking at a single heresy, academy, or KLF-C7!! Im in no hurry at all!! I have 22 inches to spare from the entertainment center to the ceiling!! And of course im in no hurry, wasnt ganna do the H/T thing, but this way ill enjoy the system during the school year!! Movies with the wife at night, and i kinda missed it, its fun!! Regards Jim
boa12
jim, w/ 22 in. up high be sure to keep i mind that u'll need to raise the back & angle it down at the listening position. so that'll add a few inches to the speaker height. in my case about 6 in. ShapeShifter
Jim, boa pointed out some great options for centers. I used the C7 with my Cornwalls/Heresy's Front & Cornwalls/RS-3's Rear, until I found an Academy in black this past June. Found locally for $175.00, in like new condition. The C7 worked pretty good, but the Academy seems to provide a more seemless tonal match across the entire front, at least to my ears. I've got feelers out now trying to buy another one in Walnut to match my Walnut Heresy's and Cornwalls. I was contacted by a seller who wanted to know if I would be interested in an Academy in black. I haven't answered yet, but if you're interested, I can refer the seller to you? If you are, send me PM with your personal email address and I'll send him your way. No offer or price has been discussed. Best of Luck...Wes
