sputnik
I'm thinking of getting this combination to run my "new" Cornwalls. I like the idea of coupling the qualities of a good tube pre-amp and a good ss power amp. Can you get the best of both? The 909 runs about $1,350 and the QC-24 runs about $1,100 with a phono stage. Any experience or suggestions would be appreciated. I've recently heard a system with the 909 playing nicely through KEF Reference speakers (with a Quad 99 ss pre-amp) but I have no first hand knowledge of the QC-24 pre-amp. I've only found one thread here discussing the QC-24.
Guy Landau
Sputnik, DeanG used to own the QC24 preamp so maybe you should ask him. AFAIK, It's just decent. For $1100 you can find something better.
