point_and_shoot
In a recent post I read where a guy was telling someone to set your fronts, rears, and center to "large" since they (r7 series) were capable. I was wondering if my RC-25 is a capeable speaker. Enough to set it to "large" when setting up my home theater. Thanks in advance for your comments, Jason
CECAA850
Most would tell you to try it large and small and see which one you like best, not bad advice. IMO however, the RC-25 should be set to small and x-overed at 80. It will really strain in the large setting.
point_and_shoot
Thanks. That is what I was sort of thinking. I would rather be crisp and clean sounding that to be just a bit more boomy. If my sub ever arrives I will try it both ways. Thanks again for the input.
colterphoto1
I'd only set speakers to LARGE if they truly could deliver good response deep in to bass territory. 25's would not be one of those, so use small to protect them. What this does is sends that last couple of octaves of bass information to your sub (along with the normal .1 LFE bass in formation) This helps protect your speakers from blowing up due to the large amount of sound effects in movies today. Just notice how much louder we listen to movies vs normal music. It's very taxing on equipment. Michael
IndyKlipschFan
Great advice... I was the one Michael that said large "if your speakers.": 1) could handle it 2) go low enough to justify it... In your case set to small, especially with a sub, and enjoy!
j-malotky
My side and rear Heresys are funny. Logic would tell you to run them small 80 hz cutoff, but they sound much, much, much better set to Large. Try it both ways and see what sounds best in your system.
