Malcolm
Don't know if anything about this has been posted in any of the forums here. If so, please ignore. BBC Radio 3 in the UK is offereing free downloads this week of Beethoven's last four symphonies. The first five were offered a while back. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/beethoven/downloads.shtml
DizRotus
Thanks Malcolm. 6 & 7 are downloading as I type. Too bad 1 - 5 are no longer available. Do they ever repeat the opportunity?
maxg
Well spotted that man!!! I too am downloading as I type. I have a feeling the bit rate must be rather low, however. Will let you know how number 6 sounds over the stax shortly.
Malcolm
Don't know if any of these will ever be offered again. BBC Radio 3 offers them for one week following broadcast. I missed the first set. If I find a way to get them, I'll let everyone know.

This program is really cool I just edited out the women talking in the beginning of the eighth symphony. you can choose you recording quality up to dvd or sacd quality(if your soundcard permits) and you can record anything that plays through your speakers, Like streaming audio www.polderbits.com and its free
travisc
what happens when you decompress an mp3 with a bit rate of 128 and recompress it to 320? Can someone explain this to me?
Shade
what happens when you decompress an mp3 with a bit rate of 128 and recompress it to 320? Can someone explain this to me? ---------------------------------------------------- You'd be better off leaving it at 128. You can't recover what's lost during the encoding/compression to MP3. If you extracted it to wav & rencoded to 320 it would just lose more information in the encoding/compression process, resulting in even poorer sound. travisc
so what your saying is even if I uncompressed 128 to a .wav and then back to 128 after editing there would be loss? bummer

Malcolm
I seem to get the fastest downloads when I do it in the p.m. PST. I can understand any speed problems. Seems there were 650,000 downloads of the first part of the series, all in only one week.
