wheelman
Well if you do and you are not using them. Try hooking your dedicated cd player to the left, and right ins' on the external inputs. Just switch to the correct input source on your receiver to use that. There you have it an unprocessed analog signal all the way. A little trick I learned today. SCOOTERDOG
Hey Wheelman, I do and I use them for my DVD Audio player. If you don't have a hirez player then I would think that there may be some benefit to using them. Keep in mind when you use the ext. inputs it is a clear path, no processing. I would hook it up and A/B between digital and Analog inputs and see what you like. scooter
toddvj
Unprocessed = No Bass Management.
picky
wheelman: My Pioneer Elite VSX-49TXi has those 7.1 connectors you mention. But, I'm with toddvj above: No bass Management for DVD-A. I use the Firewire (IEEE-1394) connection instead.
wheelman
I am referring to people who only have a cd player, or you could connect your non dvd audio dvd players analogs to it for cd listening. If you have a dvd audio player or sacd player by all means use all the connections. It's just another option to hook up an analog source. It works but I am not sure how much or if any improvement you will get. I reckon it's a purer signal.
