Most of their RF units include IR flashers for exactly what you want to do. http://www.surfremotecontrol.com/ Click on the Hot Buys link in the top left corner and you'll see two that might work for you. You can get a basic Xantech kit with 4 emitters for less than $100. It is expandable if you need more emitters, lots of options, too, including direct input for equipment with IR input jacks. All my gear is in a closet off a hall that connects to the listening/viewing room. I use Xantech IR gear. Have had it for a few years now and never had a problem.
