Allan Songer
I heard this group live about a year ago (less Hamiet Bluiett) and was blown away once again by James Carter's incredible talent. This live recording does the group justice. I've been a big James Carter fan since he broke out with the "JC On the Set" album about ten years ago. He is the most gifted reed player of his generation and even though he sometimes gets caught up in merely DEMONSTRATING his monster technique, there's always enough there to drive a stake through your heart with pure emotion and fire. http://www.content.loudeye.com/scripts/hurl.exe?clipid=083494901020706900&cid=600111
3dzapper
I bought a few of James Carter's CDs after I saw him perform with the Newport Jazz Festival 50th Anniversity Tour last year. Quite a talented young man. I'll have to pick the new one up. Thanks Allan. Rick
JJkizak
I usually don't get impressed very easily but that guy can flat play that thing. My impression is that after seeing him perform at the Newport Jazz Festival he is 100% dedicated to that instrument, even when he sleeps.
