The internet onboard the ship is really slow, so i may not be posting anything in the next six monthes. Maybe i will have some pics from some of the ports i hit. See you all later. rplace Posted August 31, 2005 Share Posted August 31, 2005 What ship ya on and what sort of cruise (Med, WestPac, etc.)? I was in an F-14 Squadron that deployed on the USS America (Aircraft Carrier) from 1984-88. Six months is a long time to be away, but looking back it was a fantastic experience. So many cool places to see and take in. You just can't see the type of sunsets and starry nights anywhere on land like you can on a ship 100s of miles from land in any direction. Best of luck to you. Just think of how sweet it will be to man the rails and pull back into homeport - you can smell the perfume from a mile away, or so it seemed. ah, the old (86-89) days of haze grey and underway, mid-watches, etc. At least for me, it was happily interupted by the occasional roar of the 16"... stay safe.
