travisc
I paid $1200 for mine and drove 8hrs to get them. feel they were worth every penny. It really depends alot. They are an investment that you can get daily use out of a pair with a common finish like walnut in good condition are going for anywhere $700- 1100
Tom Mobley
I just paid $1200 for a 1975 set, Walnut Oil finish with risers. these are in very nice shape, grills are excellent. They were local to me, and signed in two places by PWK, one of those is his O.Gadfly Hurtz pen name. I felt it was top dollar, helped they were local, no shipping. I don't know how to set a value on the PWK autographs. The cabinets are very nice, no noticeable dings or scratches. I've seen Corns go for half that or even less, I think somebody here lucked onto a set for under $500 awhile back.
colterphoto1
I paid $300 for a pair years ago that had survived house fire, needed woofers reconed, cabinets rough $500 for recent BR pair in excellent shape $800 for 1963's walnut cabinets fair from Miami, including $300 in travel expenses + 2 days my driving. $500 for a pair I'm purchasing soon. None of these is in what I'd call good condition cosmetically. All have chips in veneer, deep scratches, need grilles etc. I plan on reveneering and making them worth the $1000 to $1200 commanded routinely for mint pairs. travisc
Tom are you using the si chip amp to run those Cornwall? If so can I ask your impressions what pre if any are you using, same with the Teac? Have they found permanent homes? can you post the pics again of the signed Cornwall? to the originator of the thread what are you looking for verticals or horizontal? what finish? walnut I believe was the most common do you have a line on a pair? intotubes
I got a VERY nice set of '86's for $750. One had a blown tweeter so add $50 for two replacement coils and you have $800. Driving distance.
TEXASRONANDTRISH
Buddy of mine piced up a pair a month or so at the local pawn shop. Price paid.....$140/pr. Yep you read that right. They sound great and I'm sure could sound better with Deans magic touch. A couple dings but nothing I couldn't live with. He's looking at Horns and if he picks them up I'm the beneficiary of the corns. PLEASE, OH PLEASE[] Ron
lwhaples
Mike, I paid $600.00 for my 78's,but would'nt call them lookers. But I still enjoy how they sound. Larry
laurenc319
Hi, Just paid 700.00 for mine, 1979's. Functionally great. Grills near mint. Cabinets have some scratches and one plant mark. Larry
Gilbert
Mike, all these guys are right in the ball park. $700 to $1200 is a reasonable range that you can rely on. A good pair of vertical CW's tend to bring more, so consider that the high side, or $1200 side of the question. Travis, those are nice, very nice...with risers too. Man, if you ever find yourself wanting to upgrade or change, please give me a try at bidding on those puppies. They kinda look like Mahogany, but could be WO. Which are they??? Tom Mobley
Travis, apparently you've got a good memory! Yeah, I'm using the SI to run them. My Eico picked up a little hum I haven't gotten around to fixing. At the rate it's going motivation to work on it will scarce. The little SI is good, and I generally don't listen loud at all. Horror of horrors, I'm not using a pre-amp with either. I have a Sony ES-333, cabled directly to the SI or through a mini-box to the TEAC and on to the Khorns/Belle. I've discovered I have nearly enough stuff on hand to build a little tube pre, prolly do that soon. I found the thread from June using the search, miracle of miracles. see: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/557729/ShowPost.aspx jeez, upgraded software and the forum still can't parse links. I also used the "insert link" button on the reply screen but it doesn't work either. let's see if I can still create a hot link manually: [A HREF=/forums/557729/ShowPost.aspx]Cornwall sale thread link[/A] Not too impressive, it not doesn't post the link as a link, but strips off the http
travisc
Gilbert they are Hardrock maple, near as I can tell that finish was made in 73 and 75, If anyone has price sheets that tell me if that was the only two years or not I would be very grateful. I thought you would like that after seeing your post about near mint cane grills. I got so lucky to find these. Tom have you modded the tripath's at all? I have 2 Teac's that are great with the mids and highs but lack in the thump. Nosvalves is close to rebuilding a st-70 for me and I am very interested if I will be able to get the best of both worlds or not thanks guys
travisc
Tom I remember that thread as well, I can only imagine the excitement during the deal process on that. I know I was totaly geeked when Charles figured out mine were a very rare finish.
vman71
Thanks everyone! I'm considering a pair of '84 WO Corns. I'm going to look at them on Wednesday. All of you will think that I'm crazy but here it goes: I'm looking for a rear pair to go with my front three: KLF-20's and a KLF-C7 center. The Corns would be the rear speakers. Please take it easy on me :^)
