Ive seen most of the recent offerings at Blockbuster and here are some of my recommendations that come immediately to mind:

q House of Sand and Fog with Ben Kingsley and Jennifer Connely

q Million Dollar Baby, of course is quite powerful

q Sideways was poignant

q Any Wesley Snipes action movie over Steven Seagals latest dreck

q Will Smiths Hitch for romantic comedy

q Collateral is very good, even tough it is the underated Kim Bassinger

q Vera Drake for acting

q Dogville, for Nicole Kidman in a stage play

q Merchant of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Venice for awesome Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons (finally opening up)

q Troy, for Brad Pitt and a tale that last a thousand years

What are your recommendations?[H]

Full Synopsis

Directed by Taylor Hackford, this biopic profiles the life of legendary musician Ray Charles. Despite humble beginnings and the loss of his eyesight due to glaucoma at the age of six, Charles, depicted by Jamie Foxx,

would nonetheless become an icon in both the music industry and the

civil rights era. While the film delves into his problems with drugs

and women, the bulk of the story details his career; among the

highlights of that career are 12 Grammy awards and 11 R&B

chart-toppers, such as "Unchain My Heart," "Hit the Road, Jack,"

"Georgia," "Doin' the Mess Around," and "Hallelujah I Just Love Her

So." Also among the cast are Larenz Tate as Quincy Jones, as well as Regina King, Kerry Washington, and Clifton Powell. Charles' son, Ray Charles Jr. helped produce the film. ~ Tracie Cooper, All Movie Guide

Product Features

14 never-before-seen deleted scenes

Complete uncut music performances from the movie including Ray &

the Raelettes performing "Hit the Road Jack"

"Walking in His Shoes": A revealing look at Jamie Foxx's incredible

transformation into Ray Charles - including a jam session between the

actor and the legendary musician himself

Ray Remembered: Friends and fellow musicians remember Ray Charles

Downfall is a great history movie, though Hitlers wonderful performance is hard to take, but than so is Kevin Bacon in The Woodsman.

Another very good war movies is Saints & Soldiers. [:)]

House of sand and fog was a good movie. I really didn't think I would like it, but it was really good. Jennifer Connelly is as hot as it comes. I will be checking out some of these soon to be new releases, and others.

The Hitchikers guide to the galaxy- looks funny and visually different

robots- Blue Sky Pixel company who did the flick Ice Age

the Amityville Horror- redone with Ryan Reynolds the pizza guy

The longest yard- redone with Billy Madison

Mindhunters- Val Kilmer thriller, FBI type I think

The Lords of Dogtown- Skate boarding movie

The Marksman ( Wesley Snipes)

Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock- Oh boy I guess it's phenominal this version. I'm bettin this one will deserve it's own post

Toy Story

The ring two ( not to bad)

Blind Horizon- Val kilmer & the chick from scream ( pretty good b movie)

A love Song for Bobby Long- John Travolta does a great job

Layer Cake- Excellent U.K. crime flick

Kung Fu Hustle- Stephen Chow is hiliarious

Stuck on You- So funny it hurts, The Farrelly brothers always bring heart felt emotion to comedy. I would watch anything these guys do.

The Machinist- I've seen it awhile ago but It's worth mentioning to any newbies, and probally will watch it again this month

American Werewolf in London- Horror and comedy. Haven't seen this in a very long time, but thought of it lately and plan on it.

Shaun of the dead- Horror and comedy, way more comedy

Cabin Fever- Horror and a little comedy

The Iron Giant- Animation, I see this endlessly it's my nephews favorite, and I am the robot king now.

Darkness- Pretty creapy movie

Anacondas the hunt for the blood orchid- action adventure

Foolproof- Ryan Reynolds in this heist type flick ( b movie, but I liked it)
