OldGuy
Stay American. Upgrade your speakers for the best bang for your buck, and buy the Cornwalls. If you have the room go all out and try to pick up a pair of Khorns. Others in this forum have been lucky and found good used ones for the amount you have to spend. Remember you are changing an original acoustic signal that was recorded to a medium using electronic techniques and then you bring it back to acoustic with your system. Others agree, the speaker is the most important part of the system. After you get great speakers and maybe a bit of work on your room acoustics than you will probably find that any equipment changes do not really change the sound unless you really have a set of " GOLDEN EARS". So your saying every amp, preamp, CD player, Turn Table cartridge or table radio pretty much sound the same......... Darn I must have golden ears since every single amplifier or preamp that crosses my bench sound different in some way. While speakers make a difference for sure, as does room acoustics. The better you overall system gets IMHO the more you can hear the difference in any associated components. Craig
Deang
I think everything that comes across your bench sounds different, and then when you get done with them they sound the same.
