Freak Nasty
Hey guys I have the answer, i know why he did this, i always do this to my friends too, i tell them that some crappy brands are good when in fact don't like them at all, then after they buy the crappy Bose, or Teac Sub or Wintel what ever, i go to their place very happily, let's test your wonderful system, OOhhh , Waaaoww, sounds so good, mine is not so good i bought from china $2.50/Kg... see that's it.. He probably earned enough money from Sony Corp and could now afford to buy Velodyne 1810, and Wilson Audio like this one ... here

CAS
Wow! I always wondered why that Wilson sub was so revered as it didn't look like a major piece to me. Now I can see it's relative size with the rest of the room. It's BIG!

Petrol
... Audioreview is hosting BS ... [] and that is something that I descovered within the first few minutes when I first thought of reading a review there.... totally useless... I don't even bother with that site
TheEAR
Wow! I always wondered why that Wilson sub was so revered as it didn't look like a major piece to me. Now I can see it's relative size with the rest of the room. It's BIG! Uh CAS hello this is NOT a Wilson subwoofer! It is the Velodyne 1812,using a 18" and a 12" woofer. Each driven by a 1250W RMS dedicated amp,the sub has the most complex room correction system found in any sub. I have its little brother the HGS18...a DD18 less room correction []
CAS
I did see that. I've never seen the Watch Dog so I assumed they went Wilson all around. It's still a big dog. I just didn't feel like posting a correction. I researched the Watch Dog and find it to be finely engineered, however much too expensive for my taste. The reviews speak of accuracy, detail and great clarity, however I think a sub can only become so clear that after a certain price point (in the multiple thousands of dollars) if you don't also deliver over the top volume then it may not be worth the 10k + price. Reviewers speak of adequate volume. However, does it have great SQ? I'm certain. Does it have 10 times ( a thousand percent) better SQ? Probably not. TheEAR
CAS, Do not be silly, you know very well after a certain price point a product can only be improved so much. Each small increase in quality and sound or measured performance wilkl cost SEVERAL times as much. This applies not only to audio but ANY manufactured product in general. If you have any experience with high end speakers(real high end [] ) you will know with most upper echelon brands like Wilson Audio you pay over 90% for the work and cabinet.Wilson uses several composite materials for the cabinets, they are so inert NO coloration will come from the cabinet itself. The Wilson Watch Dog uses these materials and would be way cheaper if standard MDF would be used. The 12" woofer while impressive in aperance and performance is more like a TV12 on steroids. The Watch Dog is a BIG subwoofer, make no mistake. And when seen in person it is imposing, the quality of the coating is simply amazing, the power amp plate, the control plate all uses the finest components. It all adds to price. Performance increase over a SVS Ultra is marginal, compare a PB-Ultra to a Watch Dog and you get a bit more out of a Watch Dog.But this bit extra makes the Watch Dog the finest single 12" equipped sub made. 007
That guy is an idiot to set up thoes speakers on a hard surface floor. That would just ruin the imaging.
CAS
Like I said but without the fluff. A dealer across town sells the Wilson line but I've never stepped in. I'll have to take a look at this super dooper single sub.
Speedball
I played with a Paradigm Signature Sub the other day...it's was beautiful and pretty heavy compared to mine. I wonder where the RSW or an Ultra cylinder would fall in line with that one?
TheEAR
The Paradigm Servo Signature uses probably the most imposing 15" woofer found in any subwoofer under $5000.I should take one of these monsters out and post pics. The RSW15 woofer while a massive unit is a class below the Signature/Servo 15(new ver.) woofer. That thing is a MONSTER,a high tech monster with servo control sensor in the VC and even a heat sensor tp monitor the VC temp! Even the revel B15 woofer is not as visually impressive(the B15 woofer has a longer linear and Xmax).Velodyne's HGS18 woofer is aslo a monster with its dual tandem motor system.I too out all woofers in all my subs just to take a peek. [] The fit and finish on the Servo Signature is almost as good as it gets. The 100+ lbs weight is the norm for subs of this class. To go for the kill paradigm should release a Servo 18 sub to compete with Velodyne's DD18. Excuse my typos ...[:$]
Speedball
The paradigm to this date is the baddest I've heard, hard to describe what I felt when I cranked it up...it just enveloped everyone in the room. Maybe Klipsch could make something a little more exotic or be a little more creative than just having an everyday big box sub. Maybe a cylinder or rectangle or whatever???? CAS
Or a giant sphere suspended on a pole with drivers and ports firing in all directions, but in perfect phase at the listening position due to corrections made by hundreds of externally installed sensors. At the core of this planetary sub would be the heart...a one gigawatt amplifier....that would need no fan due to all of the wind created internally. TheEAR
Bottom line AudioReview is packed to the max with so called reviews written by bums who cannot afford better gear and take a little revenge of their own.In other words poor bums who pretend to own quality,in fact own mass market store compost filler.
