Rivendell61
For those interested in the small Tripath based Class D amps, there is this just 'published' review over on TNT of the original SI, and several more recent, but similar amps: Autocostruire 2020, etc: http://www.tnt-audio.com/ampli/tripath_amps_e.html Mark
coda
The sound quality is similar to the original T-Amp although the battery-powered original might be a little smoother overall. Something to be said for battery power, the original may still be the best buy as long as it's available. Advice, get one for $30 or less while you still can. imperfectcircle25
Were can you buy one of the SI2?? Way better looking than the origional although at much more money its still a bargain at $130!! Great amps for Klipsch or other HE speakers.
JulieHeartKlipsch
That review is not positive. It says it has bad bass and shrill midrange if you turn it up. Why would anyone want it even though it is cheap for a new amplifier.

Daddy Dee
Who knows when SI will bring this amp to market. There is no hint of it on the SI website.
coda
Holy poultry faux pas. I said original amplifier, not original recipe! May you be struck by a hard baguette. Interesting write-up in Forbes, expect to see the new model soon now that the word is out. http://www.forbes.com/execpicks/forbes/2005/1003/067.html
Rivendell61
Julie, While I am not a big fan of Tripath (there are much better Class D amps) they really can sound quite good. Tripath (and similar implementations like B&Os) are used in lots of high-end audiophile gear. The low power, inexpensive, amps reviewed, like the SI have also received ecstatic reviews from some web based review sites like TNT and 6moons--but they are best thought of as analogous to SET amps in that they are going to be very system dependant, and always have some interesting euphonic characteristics. Also, the off the shelf SI amp, or other inexpensive amps (like Teac), while using the capable Tripath chip, have compromised associated circuitry--which is why they tend to get modified. So not a best choice for a general duty main amp. But cheap fun to play with.... Mark
Colin
What was SI2 review conducted on? Big ole horns? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> The new one looks like a bargain compared to the Red Wine Clari I amp though- Original $35 Sonic Impact 5066 integrated class-T digital amplifier is perfect for flea-powered tube lovers who want a taste of solid-state on big ole horns once in awhile[H]
