psg
Any counter-indications about hanging a Heresy on a wall from it's back panel? The bracket would simply be screwed into the back panel with 4 or 6 wood screws. Would nuts and bolts straight through the back panel be better? I know it has been done before, so it should be okay. The 6 screws that hold the thick back panel look to make a pretty strong hold to me, but I suppose I could even add a few screws. My original plan (from a year ago!) was to build a wrap-around bracket to avoid any permanent damage to the speaker, but I have now decided that a simpler design will get done more quickly and will look better in the room. The speaker doesn't have an original nor a perfect finish anyway, so I don't feel that I'm destroying a valuable piece.
rplace
You are probably not mounting in the same manor as I did, but check out my 2nd picture on this post http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/563585/ShowPost.aspx I took the back off and ran carriage bolts through the back then nuts on the outside. They have been hanging for months with no issues. Wood screws into the back gives me a less then safe feeling...but that is just my gut. You surely don't want them to fall...better over engineer it. michael hurd
If you are worried about it, you could make a new back panel, and drill it instead of the existing one. Carriage bolts or bolts of any kind rather than screws are more appropriate fasteners, as was pointed out. You wouldn't want a heresy falling on your noodle! j-malotky
Think about the weight you are hanging. A Heresy1 weighs in at 50lbs and a Heresy2 weighs in at 35 lbs. That really is not much weight. My Heresys have been hanging from there back pannels for over 3 years now. No problems. JM
psg
Thanks guys! I think that 6 wood screws can hold 35 lbs without any problems. I might drill larger holes and use bolts instead but that is more difficult to repair if I ever remove it and presents a slightly larger risk for a loss of a proper seal. I'll try to post pictures when this gets done. I think my design is even simpler than rplace's if that's possible.
