Hi,

I have a Yamaha RXV-3300 reciever and I have a question for anyone who might have experienced the same problems I have.

When I set my reciever to AUTO it should automatically play what ever

surround mix I choose from the setup menu, but I seem to be having

trouble with the DD EX mode. My reciever isn't picking up the rear

surround channel. I have to manualy set the reciever to MATRIX 6.1 to

get the rear surround to play. I found this to be true for all but one

DVD labled with a DD 5.1 EX track ( Harry Potter - Chamber of Secrets).

All DTS modes work fine, 6.1 Discrete included.

Is anyone else having this problem, and is the Matrix 6.1 mode the same as the AUTO EX mode?

Thanks for any input.

When Surround EX first came out, many older receivers kept dropping the sound due to an incomaptibility with the Surround EX flag. The solution was to drop the flag. Most Surround EX movies do not have the flag, so you have to set it manually to Surround EX.

Prologic IIx largely solves the problem since it will automatically look for material to extract for 7.1.
