iwillwalk
well i guess thats my question.im connecting my ref 50 manual says 3.5 mm, but the ref200 man says use a 1/8 inch.......
Marvel
3.5mm is the same as 1/8". They come in mono, stereo (ring, tip, sleeve) and three conductor (ring, ring, tip, sleeve) configurations. The latter is mostly used as the analog outputs of video cameras, so it would terminate as three RCAs on the other end instead of two (left, right audio and one video). The pic shows the three from left to right. Obviously, the jacks are what these would plug into. Bruce
WMcD
I did the math and 3.5 mm is not exactly 1/8th inch. But I'm sure there are not two versions of the general size. There is an even more narrow plug but I believe it is down near 2.5 mm. The one you're wondering about is just like on Walkman ("walk person") earphone. We used to call these "Jap Plugs", very un-PC of course. They were used on the classic three - transistor Japanese transistor radio. In keeping with the season, please recall Allan Sherman's 12 Gifts of Christmas. The radio has an earphone, one end goes in your ear and the other end doesn't go anywhere, because it is bent. Smile. Marvel
Gil, It is my turn to return the compliment. You are correct (once again) that they aren't exactly the same, but they are used interchangeably. Bruce
WMcD
I expect they are 3.5 mm because the orient is mostly metric. Calling it 1/8 inch was just something which Americans could understand. I sometimes look at our old radio equipment. By modern standards it is very over designed. Gil
ironwoods
Hi, my abacus indicates 12 * thousandths* of an inch difference........... in all practical purposes I'd call it the same. [8-|]

I almost can't pick it up (Okay, so I don't work out much). The thing is heavy. I am also just using it for parts as it was free (doesn't work now), and there are some things in it that I can use (like the power tranny). It has a 6V6 audio amp in it. Pretty cool I think.
