klipschster23
i can get the RW-10 for $4bills here in sacramento. I know there are better subs but i really want to match my reference system. I like the idea of everything matching..My question is this cause ive been lazy to read reviews...Is it a decent sub? will it shake rattle and roll fairly well?...I'm a 50/50 music & movies kinda guy.......Monty RF 35 RC 35 RS 35 Denon 1813
DrWho
I wouldn't go with a sub that can't displace more volume than my mains....so in your situation I wouldn't settle for the RW-10. At the very least mabe an RSW-12, but I'm a sucker for 15" woofers. Good deals pop up all the time so it's good to exercise some patience and wait for the really good ones. klipschster23
thnx bro but im not spending more than 4 or 5 hundred on a sub..i mean even if it dosent displace more volume than the mains at least its more volume in the room...anyone else got a comment about the RW-10? bigrol21
I have a kef 10' with my reference speakers and it just about shakes my whole house. It has more then enough juice to satisfy at the price range you are looking at.
DrWho
Then you might check out the Dayton Titanic 12" MK III subwoofer kit from partsexpress that goes for around $500 and would leave the RW-10 in the dust [] (or the 15" kit goes for $700)
citronbull88
I have a 6 month old RW-12 for sale $350 plus shipping. Let me know before I put it on ebay.
thxsubwoofers
I know your into Reference, but hows the Synergy Sub-12? If not the Sub-12 ,then the RW-12 might be the second choice.
klipschster23
hey thanks guys for the inputs...btw bro the synergy is a lower level compared to the reference..ill stick with the reference line.
DrWho
the synergy is a lower level compared to the reference have you heard the sub-12? Just cuz it has the synergy label doesn't mean it's a poor performer. You might want to hold off towards the new year when the new reference stuff will be released (you'll prob find better closeout prices). Except the Sub-12 would be a better buy.... Only about 3-5 dB[loudness] off measuring from a down-firing to a front-firing subwoofer. To me, in my opinion I still like front-firing subwoofers.[]
klipschster23
oh really? are u sure the sub 12 is as good as the RW 12 ?? cause Best Buys has it for $450...hmmmmm interesting......anyone else can say the sub 12 is as good as the RW 12?..........Monty
thxsubwoofers
To bad I couldn't find the RW-12 vs Sub-12 thread... Anyways Im sure TheEar would know about the subwoofer Sub-12 vs RW-12 stats.[]
DrWho
Well they will definetly be similar performers, but the catch is it is definetly be better than the RW-10 [] I prefer front-firing subs too so I would be more inclined to go with an RW-12 over the sub-12 if money weren't an issue. And you can't deny the cosmetic advantage of the RW-12 either.
klipschster23
dudes i just came back from bestbuys and pumped up that huge vibrating piece of shiznit..the only thing i think it might be of use is maybe if my wifes horny she can sit on it and buzz for a while..other than that its garbage..seriously its awful...im gonna look at Martin Logan or sumfin
CECAA850
Sounds like BestBuy did their typical job of setup again.
Scp53
CECAA850, i concur with what you said. klipschster23, if you give that sub an honest listen when its well setup, i think you'll be blown away. Im not sure if your aware of this, but the room and the placment of speakers/sub(s) in the room DRASTICALLY affect how they sound. The best subs in the world will sound like crap if not setup and placed properly. period. i have two higher end subs my self and both sound like garbage when not setup properly. my recommendation is to buy that sub 12 and test it at home, after all BB is good about letting you return products. scp53
klipschster23
ok ok good advice..i can always return it..ill go ahead and test it out at home maybe you guys are right..be back later with my results.
